Buckingham Palace has been residence to the Royal family since 1837 and is where The Queen carries out her official and ceremonial duties as Head of State. This enormous palace has 775 rooms and is home to many priceless works of art. A visit to Buckingham Palace takes in 19 magnificent state rooms including the White Drawing Room and Throne Room. The Palace is lavishly decorated with some of the finest furniture in the world and paintings by Van Dyck and Canaletto. In 2014 you can enjoy the new exhibition ‘Royal Childhood’ that tells the story of life growing up in the Royal family over the last 250 years. Once you have taken in the exhibition and all the Palace has to offer you will make your way to a nearby restaurant and enjoy a delicious afternoon tea for two at the 4* Rubens Hotel.
