With this choice of tours and tastings you will get a fascinating insight into the world of English wine production including the history of winemaking. Enjoy an interesting and entertaining tour of the vineyard where you will be shown a variety of vines and how they are trained to grow before visiting the bottling plant. Of course you’ll also get to taste some of your chosen vineyard’s best wines.
On arrival at the vineyard you will be asked to register before being introduced to your tour guide. The experienced tour guide will lead you out into the vineyard for an overview of English wine production the different wine varieties they grow and how the vineyard differs from continental vineyards. They will discuss the problems they encounter with weather disease pruning and harvesting. You will also visit the winery and bottling plant where you will discover the secrets of the winemaking process from the arrival of the grapes to the bottling of the finished wine. They will also explain how sparkling wine is produced and how they tilt and turn wine in order to extract sediment. This first part of the tour will take place inside in the event of inclement weather. After the tour you will accompany the guide to the tasting room where several of the award winning wines can be appreciated and any additional questions you may have can be answered. Before you leave don’t forget to visit the shop for the opportunity to purchase some wine to take away with you.
